Building Green CPH - Scaling for Enough

European and Nordic focus on how to optimise the usage of our existing m2

29october

This year's Building Green in Copenhagen brought together stakeholders from across the building industry to discuss the topic 'Scaling for Enough'. We hosted a session focused on how to make better use of the existing building stock, exploring opportunities for renovation, transformation, and extending the lifespan of buildings.

It is often said that the most sustainable building is the one already standing. Yet, there is a growing demand for more square meters – especially in major cities. A key question, therefore, is: How can we make better use of the buildings we already have?

At the session, the EU Commission together with the Nordic countries shared insights into current initiatives in this field. Participants had the chance to ask questions and exchange knowledge, including tools and inspiring examples of renovation and transformation. The discussions highlighted both how to extend the lifespan of existing building and how to adapt spaces for new uses.
