Educational Material Skills4Reuse in New Language Version

Skills4Reuse – Now Available in the Faroe Islands!

Publiceret 25-02-2025

Since March 2024 the educational material Skills4Reuse has been freely available online and disseminated to the Nordic vocational schools in 6 languages. Now, a brand new language version is available in Faroese.

Expansion of the Educational Material

By request from the vocational schools in Faroe Islands, the Skills4Reuse material has been expanded. This means that the Faroese students can dive into the educational Skills4Reuse universe covering topics such as sustainability, circularity, low-emission construction materials, design for disassembly and much more.

What is Skills4Reuse?

The teaching material, Skills4Reuse, targets students and apprentices in both introductory and advanced courses in bricklaying and carpentry at vocational schools in the Nordic region. The teaching material aims to equip future craft workers with key skills in sustainable practices and reuse.

Skills4Reuse introduces the students to various themes such as sustainability in the construction industry, reuse potential, legislation, and structural design. Skills4Reuse is accessible digitally and includes videos, class discussions, facts, quizzes, and practical exercises, allowing students to learn how to dismantle and build with recycled building materials.

The material is developed by the Knowledge Center for Craft and Sustainability (Videnscenter for Håndværk & Bæredygtighed), and Norion Consult as part of the Nordic Sustainable Construction collaborative program.

A Resource for Faroese Teachers and Students

Relevant actors in the Faroe Islands have already noticed the translation of the material that views it as a great resource.

"I am very pleased that the educational material Skills4Reuse is now available in Faroese. It is great with a freely available resource for teachers and students to learn about reuse and sustainability in construction in their native language. It makes the material more accessible and relevant, and we expect it will enhance their understanding and engagement in these important topics. Thus, we can better prepare our students for future challenges and opportunities when it comes to finding green solutions." - Marius Thomassen, House of Industry, Faroe Islands

We hope that this material will be distributed to Faroese vocational institutions and integrated into the construction education curriculum, either as a comprehensive resource or as supplementary content.
