An Illustration Has Been Created to Bring the Inspiration Catalogue to Life

Publiceret 20-08-2026

As part of the publication of the Inspiration Catalogue, showcasing policy measures and case examples to improve the use of the existing building stock, an illustration was prepared by the artist OH MAN Production. The illustration captures the hierarchy of resource-efficient construction and visually represents its five strategic action areas.

The Inspiration Catalogue was developed within the Circularity Work Package and highlights policy measures from across the Nordic region and beyond, that can support better use of existing buildings through maintenance, renovation, transformation and adaptation rather than demolition and new construction.

It builds on the hierarchy of resource-efficient construction guiding whether to utilise, maintain, renovate and transform, extend lifetime or build new. The hierarchy sets focus on the most sustainable actions, ensuring efficient resource use and reducing waste.

The catalogue suggests five strategic action areas that help policymakers and authorities promote more sustainable and resource-efficient use of the built environment by showcasing policy measures and case examples for reaching targets and creating awareness on optimising the use of the existing building stock.

Development of the illustration

To gain insight into the themes and policy measures presented in the catalogue, the artist participated in the launch webinar held on 7 May 2026. The webinar brought together Nordic stakeholders and authorities to present selected policy measures and case examples featured in the catalogue, providing valuable context and inspiration for the development of the illustration.

To communicate these messages in a visually engaging way, OH MAN Production created an illustration representing the hierarchy of resource efficient construction and the catalogue's five strategic action areas. The illustration is now available for download as both a poster and a postcard and can be used to inspire dialogue and raise awareness about the importance of making better use of the existing building stock.
