Final call for submissions: Nordic handbook on low‑carbon and nature‑based products and solutions

Work is underway on the Nordic handbook on low‑carbon and nature‑based solutions, developed as part of the Climate work package in the Nordic Sustainable Construction (NSC) programme.

Following a competitive bid process, part of the task was awarded to a joint team consisting of Green Building Council Iceland (GBCI) and Granlund Ltd. Together with the Housing, Construction and Planning Authority of Iceland, they are responsible for identifying, documenting, and analysing innovative low‑carbon and nature‑based products and solutions available on the Nordic market.

About the handbook

The handbook aims to showcase approximately 20 exemplary Nordic products and solutions that can support the transition towards a more sustainable construction sector. The focus is on practical solutions that are already available or close to market and that have the potential for broader uptake across the Nordic region.

Submissions are invited within the following three main product categories:

  • Structural frame and foundations
  • Envelope and roof
  • Interiors and building systems

In addition to presenting the products themselves, the handbook will highlight insights related to market readiness, scalability, and barriers to wider adoption, based on dialogue with industry stakeholders across all Nordic countries.

Final call for submissions

Actors across the Nordic construction value chain are invited to submit recommendations of products or solutions for possible inclusion in the handbook. Submissions should include clear and concise information on the product or solution, its application in the built environment, and its low carbon and/or nature-based characteristics. Contributors are also encouraged to provide information on where the main stages of the products production chain are located and how wider adoption could contribute to a more sustainable construction industry.

Submit your recommendation via the submission form and contribute to a shared Nordic knowledge base for climate smart construction.

Deadline for submissions: 1st of June 2026
