As program partner, The Ministry of Environment of Finland and SWECO Denmark hosts this event. Supported by BUILD – Department of the Built Environment at Aalborg University they have been responsible for collecting a variety of low carbon construction projects presented in a new catalog.
The project aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the building and construction sector, addressing the challenges posed by limited resources and the lack of best practice examples that hinder progress toward climate targets. Construction companies are at varying stages of adopting and implementing low-carbon solutions, often requiring external support and guidance to set appropriate targets and integrate effective low-carbon and circular practices into their projects.
Examples of Nordic low carbon buildings
In a collaborative effort among Nordic countries and Estonia, the project team have created a catalog of low carbon buildings that focus on optimizing CO2 emissions and exploring circular opportunities, which can serve as good examples for future construction projects. The catalog evaluates the climate impacts and material usage of these buildings, providing insights into potential decarbonization strategies. It also analyzes the assessment methods used in the participating countries and their influence on carbon impact results.
