Report: Emission-free construction sites: definitions, boundaries and terminilogy - current status in the Nordic countries

Icelandic Ministry of Infrastructure16-03-2023

This report suggests answers, a status and a unified framework for the field of emission-free construction sites. It addresses definitions of construction sites and their boundaries, problems with emission, waste and pollution stemming from construction, practical implementations, energy use and carriers, procurement and key learnings from case studies.

Global climate change driven by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has become an existential threat to modern civilisation. The building and construction sector is one of the main emitters of greenhouse gases and has been estimated to be responsible for about 39% of the world’s energy process and energy-related CO2 emissions. Therefore, minimising emission at construction sites is an essential focus to reach sustainability.
